Typhoon Saudel makes landfall twice in Zhejiang Province — ECNS

Typhoon Saudel made landfall twice in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province on Friday. According to ECNS, it brought winds of up to level 12 and heavy rainfall. The cyclone’s impact is expected to spread further inland.

Highest response level

Zhejiang authorities raised the emergency response level to the highest level on Thursday evening due to the approaching typhoon. Saudel became the third strong typhoon to hit the province this year, after Bavi and Dolphin.

Heavy rain and strong winds continued along China’s southeastern coast. The most intense rainfall is forecast for Zhejiang and the neighboring province of Fujian before the typhoon moves further inland.

Response and monitoring

Nearly 50 vehicles and 260 personnel were deployed for the emergency response. The typhoon and potential risks are being monitored using monitoring systems and drones.
