Tinubu announces release of 21 kidnapped people in Kogi State
In Nigeria's Kogi State, 21 kidnapped people were freed during a search-and-rescue operation, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Nigerian President Bola Tinubu said this, Premium Times Nigeria reports.
According to Tinubu, the people kidnapped last week were rescued by a joint group of military personnel, the Nigerian police, the Department of State Services, and local self-defense units. The operation was conducted in the forests of the Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi State.
Medical assistance for those released
The president said that the 21 people released included eight men and 13 women. According to his statement, all of them are receiving medical assistance before reuniting with their families.

Tinubu also said that security forces continue to search for the kidnappers. He noted that law enforcement officers must pursue not only the perpetrators of the crime but also those who may have assisted them.
Trip to Abuja
As the outlet notes, the 15 NYSC members were kidnapped while travelling from the corps' permanent orientation camp in the Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State to Nigeria's capital, Abuja.
According to Premium Times Nigeria, they likely belonged to the 2026 Batch B Stream II and had completed activities at the orientation camp before the trip.
