Trump Is Ready to Continue Bombing Iran — New York Post
U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he is prepared to resume military strikes against Iran if Tehran does not stop its attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and beyond. The New York Post reported this, citing sources in the U.S. administration.
According to the publication, the White House is considering a new military campaign that could last from a few days to several weeks. Its duration will depend on Iran’s next moves.
Sources note that within the administration, the potential operation is unofficially referred to as a “slap in the face” for Iran, emphasizing that it should be painful but short-lived, provided Tehran does not escalate the situation further. At the same time, the White House emphasizes that this is not the official name of the military operation.
Returning from the NATO summit, Trump told reporters that he does not know whether the current standoff will escalate into a full-scale war, but expressed confidence that the U.S. “will win it very quickly.” He also stated that previous ceasefire agreements are no longer in effect and threatened new strikes against Iranian infrastructure.
According to Iranian media reports, during the latest wave of strikes, the U.S. military attacked a strategic railway bridge near the border with Turkmenistan, which serves as a key transportation route to China and Russia.
In response, Iran announced that it had launched missiles and drones toward U.S. military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. Authorities in those countries reported that the aerial targets had been intercepted.
At the same time, Trump stated that Iran had already signaled its readiness for negotiations, but expressed doubt that Tehran would abide by any potential agreements. According to him, any new attacks by Iran will receive a “much stronger response” from the U.S.
