Trump expects many countries to join the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump announced a large-scale international blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to completely halt Iranian oil exports.

He made this statement in an interview with Fox News, emphasizing that the U.S. will not allow Tehran to finance its activities through the sale of energy resources to select buyers. According to the American leader, the strategy regarding Iran will be a “higher level” of what Washington previously implemented in Venezuela.

To enforce the blockade and clear the strait of mines, the U.S. is deploying the latest high-tech minesweepers. Trump also reported that the United Kingdom and a number of other countries are already sending their ships to support the operation. The president emphasized that his tough rhetoric on the social media platform Truth Social forced the Iranian side to sit down at the negotiating table in Pakistan, but he has no intention of compromising, demanding 100% compliance with U.S. conditions.

“They have no trump cards,” Trump stated, adding that he expects Iran to surrender completely on key issues. Meanwhile, the situation in the region remains tense due to the threat of closing the world’s main oil artery, which has already caused concern in global energy markets. Currently, U.S. military forces in the Persian Gulf have been placed on full combat alert to implement the announced blockade.

Peace talks between the U.S. and Iran, which lasted 21 hours in Islamabad, ended without results.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bakai stated that significant differences on several strategic issues prevented the conclusion of an agreement with the United States in Islamabad.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of a complete naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following the collapse of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program. According to the American leader, despite agreement on most issues, the key problem—the development of nuclear weapons—remained unresolved
