Trump announced when Xi Jinping will visit the U.S. — Reuters

On Thursday, July 23, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the date of the Chinese leader’s visit to the United States. Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States on September 24, 2026.

U.S. President Donald Trump has already identified one of the key topics he plans to discuss with the Chinese leader. Washington will use the meeting to resume discussions on artificial intelligence—a topic they had previously addressed in Beijing.

“President Xi is coming on September 24, and we talked about this (artificial intelligence) when I was in Beijing, and we’ll be talking about it again,” Trump said.

The visit will be a continuation of the talks the leaders held during Trump’s trip to China earlier this year. It was while in Beijing that the U.S. president invited Xi Jinping to the White House.

Active preparations for the September talks are already underway.

On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the need to identify areas of cooperation. The goal is to lay the groundwork for a “very positive visit.”

This was reported by Reuters.

As a reminder, China has announced the creation of an international organization dedicated to cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. Twenty-nine countries have already joined the new organization, including Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to shorten the validity period of U.S. visas for foreign journalists, particularly those representing Chinese media outlets. Officials in Washington stated that this will allow for stricter monitoring of compliance with residency requirements, while Beijing has already threatened retaliatory measures.
