Trump Praised Saudi Arabia's Strikes Against Yemeni Houthis – Axios

U.S. President Donald Trump supported Saudi Arabia’s military operation against the Houthis following a request from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. As a result, Saudi forces struck Sana’a Airport, to which the Houthis responded by launching ballistic missiles and drones at Abha Airport

The escalation was the most serious since 2022 and was triggered by the flight of an Iranian Mahan Air plane, which, according to the U.S., was carrying weapons and military experts. The plane picked up a Houthi delegation that was traveling to Iran for the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Such flights from Iran to Sana’a had been virtually nonexistent for over a decade, as Saudi Arabia feared they could be used to transport weapons or Iranian military advisers.

The day before, the Saudi Arabian ambassador discussed the situation with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, after which a phone call took place between Trump and the Saudi prince.

This was reported by Axios.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hagseth warned Iran of the consequences of supporting the Houthis. He made these remarks even though the U.S. has resumed negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program.

The Houthi terrorist group launched a ballistic missile from Yemen toward Israel.
