Trump Announced a 60-Day Tariff Truce in the Strait of Hormuz
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that no tolls will be charged in the Strait of Hormuz during the 60-day ceasefire period, nor after it ends—provided that a corresponding agreement is reached.
“There will be no tolls in the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days during the ceasefire, and there will be no tolls after this 60-day period ends, unless they are imposed by the United States of America if an agreement is not reached…” — Trump wrote on Truth Social.
According to him, the key condition is reaching a final agreement that will define future rules and possible compensation mechanisms.
Trump also emphasized that any further decisions regarding potential payments or restrictions could be implemented by the U.S. in the absence of a final, agreed-upon settlement.
