Trump says Washington arch will become military complex — YLE News
US President Donald Trump said he had agreed to turn his proposed triumphal arch in Washington into a military complex for national security reasons. According to him, the structure could be used to station a large number of drones and snipers — on the roof and in the area around the arch.
Trump’s statement
According to YLE News, Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform that the complex would also provide for the storage of significant stocks of sniper ammunition. The president claims that the decision to repurpose the arch is linked to a request from the US military.
At the same time, international news agencies have not yet confirmed Trump’s claim that there was such a request from the US Army.

The arch project
The structure planned by Trump in Washington would be more than 76 metres tall. If implemented, it would become the largest triumphal arch in the world. Construction requires the approval of two government bodies that oversee development in the US capital.
Trump also said that Washington is the only one among the 59 most important cities and capitals without a triumphal arch. The president, who began his career in real estate, seeks to leave his mark on the capital’s architecture during his second term. Among his notable decisions, the source cites the demolition of the White House’s East Wing for a planned ballroom.
