Trump called on Russia to sign a peace agreement and end the war against Ukraine

Trump called on Russia to sign a peace agreement and end the war against Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Russia must reach an agreement and cease hostilities, as the war is inflicting enormous losses on both the Russian and Ukrainian sides.

According to Trump, the war has already resulted in significant human casualties, and the continuation of hostilities only worsens the situation.

“Listen, Russia needs to make a deal. Russia has lost a huge number of people, just like Ukraine. Last month, they lost 35,000 soldiers between them. What’s happening there is just crazy,” Trump emphasized.

The U.S. president also noted that after resolving the situation with Iran, he plans to devote special attention to ending the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to him, the issue of peace in Ukraine remains one of the key priorities of American foreign policy.

Trump reported that he recently held telephone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, which he described as “very good.”

“I see a certain openness to the negotiation process on both sides,” the White House chief noted.

The topic of the war in Ukraine and possible ways to end it became one of the central issues at the G7 summit. European allies hope to develop a common position on further steps to restore security and stability on the European continent.

The U.S. leader made this statement during the G7 summit, which is taking place in Evian-les-Bains, France.

European officials expressed concern about possible moves by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the peace process in Russia’s war against Ukraine. The EU fears that after tensions surrounding Iran ease, the White House chief may take the negotiation process under his own control.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the negotiating hall for the first session of the G7 summit alongside U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron.
