A Russian pilot and former Wagner Group member has died in Africa
Russian military pilot Dmitry Serdinov, whose call sign was “Stary,” was killed in an African country. Russian Z-channels reported his death on August 13.
According to Russian social media accounts, Serdinov was killed while carrying out a combat mission. He was a ground-attack aircraft pilot and served in the 18th Guards Aviation Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces, which has been participating in the war against Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion.
It is also reported that Serdinov had previously been a member of the Wagner Group’s aviation unit. He administered a large pro-Russian social media channel where anti-Ukrainian content and posts celebrating the deaths of Ukrainians were published.
The exact circumstances and location of the Russian pilot’s death have not yet been determined. There is currently no confirmation from local forces or official sources regarding the downing of his aircraft.
