The United Kingdom has recorded its highest number of days in 30 years when the air temperature reached 30°C or higher.
As of August 9, temperatures in the country had reached 30°C or higher for 35 days. This surpassed the previous record set in 1995.
Another temperature high was recorded on August 9 in Frittenden, Kent. There, the air warmed to 30.6°C.
Meteorologist Tom Morgan reported that the temperature in Frittenden, Kent, rose to 30.6°C.
“We saw the temperature in Frittenden, Kent, reach 30.6°C,” he said.
According to the meteorologist, the temperature could rise even higher throughout the day.
“We still expect temperatures to peak at perhaps 32°C or slightly higher this afternoon,” Morgan added.

As a reminder, nearly 2,900 heat-related deaths have been recorded in the United Kingdom since the beginning of 2026. This figure has already nearly doubled the number of such deaths for the entire year of 2025.
In Germany, due to the prolonged heat and drought, water levels in the Rhine River—one of Europe’s most important waterways—have dropped sharply. Water levels are approaching record lows, but cargo shipping continues for now.
