178 antisemitic incidents recorded at UK universities over two years — Jerusalem Post
In the United Kingdom, 178 antisemitic incidents connected to universities were recorded over two academic years. This is stated in a Community Security Trust (CST) report, the Jerusalem Post reports.
According to CST, 83 incidents occurred in the 2024–2025 academic year and another 95 in 2025–2026. By comparison, 53 antisemitic incidents connected to universities were registered in the last academic year before Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
Types of recorded incidents
The largest share of cases — 149 out of 178 — was classified as abusive behavior. This category included verbal abuse, antisemitic comments, graffiti and written abuse.
The report also contains data on two cases classified as extreme violence, six assaults, eight cases of damage to or desecration of Jewish property, ten direct threats, and three cases involving mass-produced antisemitic materials. Five of the eight cases of property damage or desecration occurred in student accommodation.

The incidents took place both directly in the university environment and online; Instagram was the most common platform for such cases.
References to Israel, Gaza and the war
As CST notes, 16 incidents were committed by university staff or lecturers, 61 by students, and another 28 by student societies or their representatives. Most cases were politically motivated. In 62% of incidents, Israel, Gaza, Hamas, October 7 or the subsequent war were mentioned. Another 26% of incidents contained references to Hitler, Nazis or the Holocaust.
CST Chief Executive Mark Gardner said that Jews continue to face a serious problem of antisemitism at universities. UK Education Secretary Lucy Powell stressed that there is no place for antisemitism in England’s education system and said she expects universities to show zero tolerance for such manifestations.
