Police officers and rescue workers were shot at a fire in Denmark
On July 17, law enforcement officers conducted a large-scale special operation in the Danish city of Nærresundby after a shooting and fire broke out in an industrial area. At around 1:40 p.m. local time, emergency services responded to a report of a fire, after which an unknown assailant opened fire on firefighters and police officers from North Jutland.
The police were forced to return fire. As a result of the shootout, three people sustained gunshot wounds: the suspect himself, one of the police officers, and another person.
According to local police spokesperson Søren Petersen, all three victims are in serious condition, and a significant number of law enforcement officers remain at the scene. The cause of the fire, the shooter’s motives, and other circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation; investigators are asking witnesses to share any relevant information.
