Exhibition on neo-Nazism featuring materials about Ukraine opens in Yekaterinburg
In Yekaterinburg, Russia — an aggressor state — an exhibition titled “Catastrophe of Memory. Neo-Nazism in the 21st Century” opened on September 13. It was presented as part of the International Festival of Youth 2026, which is taking place in the city from September 11 to 17. This was reported by MyJoyOnline.
Festival exhibition
The exhibition was organized by the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia. The display combines materials about Nazi Germany and World War II with contemporary installations. Through them, the organizers seek to highlight what they call the revival and glorification of Nazi and extremist ideologies.
Among the exhibits are materials from Russian museums, archives and news agencies, historical artifacts, and works by contemporary artists. Visitors are shown videos about the liberation of parts of Europe from Nazi occupation, footage from the Nuremberg Trials, stamps honoring the Anti-Hitler Coalition, and materials about the crimes of Nazi Germany.

Materials about the war against Ukraine
Part of the contemporary exhibition is dedicated to Ukraine and Russia’s war against it. According to the outlet, these materials reflect the Russian organizers’ interpretation of the conflict. In particular, the display includes publications that the organizers characterize as nationalist or neo-Nazi, as well as items collected in territories involved in the war.
Sergey Kiriyenko, head of the festival’s organizing committee and first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, attended the opening. According to the organizers, 10,000 young people from 191 countries are taking part in the festival: 5,000 from Russia and 5,000 from other states. The exhibition’s main materials were translated into English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese; tours will be held daily in Russian and English.
