The EU has launched an investigation into Russia's possible involvement in disinformation regarding Ceuta

Europol and the European External Action Service (EEAS) are investigating who is behind a large-scale disinformation campaign regarding the migration situation in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

European Commissioner for Home Affairs Magnus Brunner stated that human traffickers and smugglers have already been identified as being involved in spreading false information.

At the same time, the theory of possible Russian involvement is still being investigated, so it is too early to draw definitive conclusions.

The issue was discussed during an emergency online meeting of EU interior ministers, convened due to the sharp escalation of the migration situation in Ceuta.
