France assembles Marine Le Pen’s presidential campaign team
In France, the team of presidential candidate Marine Le Pen is forming its campaign structure amid internal disagreements within the National Rally. Renaud Labaye, secretary-general of the party’s parliamentary group, is expected to leave his post in mid-September to lead communications and press relations for Le Pen’s campaign, Politico Europe reports.
According to the outlet, Le Pen is to focus on the presidential campaign, while party leader Jordan Bardella is to focus on parliamentary elections and a potential post as prime minister. At the same time, the responsibilities of some party leaders have not yet been finally determined. At the end of August, Bardella lost one of his closest advisers, François Durvye; Le Pen told BFMTV that his departure was welcome to her.
Economic team and programme
MP Jean-Philippe Tanguy is preparing economic and budget proposals, including a plan to restore public finances that envisages €125 billion in savings. He also advocates a budgetary “golden rule” intended to reassure financial markets. One party representative told Politico that a budget deficit of less than 1% of GDP could serve as a benchmark.

Le Pen’s chief of staff, Ambroise de Rancourt, coordinates the preparation of policy documents and communicates with businesses and civil servants. According to him, he is compiling a list of about 600 specialists who could be brought in to work in ministerial offices in the event of victory in 2027. MP Alexandre Loubet works with de Rancourt on industrial policy and regulatory simplification.
Leadership and spokespersons
MEP Julien Sanchez is the campaign director, while MP for the Gard department Yoann Gillet is his deputy. Treasurer Kévin Pfeffer is responsible for securing a loan to finance the campaign. At the end of August, Bardella said that no French bank had agreed to provide a loan for the campaign.
In July, the campaign appointed four spokespersons: Laure Lavalette, Alexandre Nikolic, Laurent Jacobelli and Gaëtan Dussausaye. Le Pen’s inner circle also includes her brother-in-law Philippe Olivier, MPs Bruno Bilde and Sébastien Chenu, as well as Perpignan Mayor Louis Aliot. The role of MEP Marion Maréchal in the campaign has not yet been determined, according to Politico Europe.
