France reported a cyberattack on a government ministry
In France, the website Zéro logement vacant, which is run by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, suffered a large-scale cyberattack. A group that had previously attacked the country’s government services claimed responsibility for the attack.
The hacker group ZeroBytes, which was behind the large-scale cyberattack on tax service data that came to light in mid-August, claimed responsibility for stealing millions of records from the Zéro logement vacant website.
This platform, which is administered by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, was inaccessible on Sunday, August 30, after hackers claimed to have carried out a large-scale cyberattack on the website’s data. The Ministry has not yet commented on the incident.
Zéro logement vacant is a government digital service designed to help local authorities return vacant housing to the market.
The hackers claim to have stolen nearly 149 million raw records from the platform, giving them access to owner and user data, although the files may contain duplicates.
The stolen data may include first and last names, dates of birth, mailing addresses, and various identifiers associated with property owners or properties registered on Zéro logement vacant.
