Two taxi rank executives detained in Ghana over suspected murder plot
In Ghana, police have detained two executives of the Botwe Old Town taxi rank who are suspected of planning the murder of a woman. They are former rank chairman Eric Tettey and its current chairman, Abubakar Altine, MyJoyOnline reports, citing police.
Suspected preparation of an attack
According to police, the men allegedly hired two armed individuals to kill Esther Dankua. She lives in Nanakrom and collects contributions under the susu system at the Botwe taxi rank.
Law enforcement officials said they received information about the alleged criminal plan about two weeks before the detention. The operation in the area was conducted on September 3, 2026, at around 7:30 p.m.

Detention and investigation
Police set up an ambush and detained the suspects when they were, according to investigators, preparing to carry out the plan to kill Esther Dankua. The operation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Maxwell Oppong, an officer of the Madina Police Criminal Investigations Department.
Preliminary investigation, according to police, indicates that one of the suspects owed the woman money and may have been trying to avoid repaying the debt. Both men are being held in custody for investigative actions. Police said they are to be brought before a court after the investigation is completed.
