Hong Kong to open its first robot-operated stores
Hong Kong plans to open its first retail stores that will be fully operated by robots. Three Galbot Store outlets are due to begin operating on Tuesday.
Stores without remote control
As ECNS reports, the stores will be operated by the Beijing-based company Galbot Co., Ltd. Robots will manage the outlets without pre-programmed instructions or remote human control.
The stores will sell cultural products from Hong Kong and cities in mainland China. The report does not specify the addresses of the new outlets or the range of products.

First overseas launch
Galbot has already opened about 200 robot-operated stores in nearly 50 cities in mainland China. The outlets in Hong Kong will be the brand's first overseas deployment and will allow the company to test robotics in real-world conditions.
Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po and Galbot founder Wang He said that the city's open business environment and diverse market create a platform for the international development of advanced technologies.
