Latvia issues orange warning over threat in airspace
The Latvian National Armed Forces (NBS) have issued an orange warning over a potential threat to the airspace in Alūksne Municipality in the country’s northeast. The warning was issued on September 1 at 03:37. This was reported by LSM English, Latvia’s public media outlet.
Fighter jets scrambled
Fighter jets from NATO’s Baltic Air Policing Mission were scrambled to intercept the object. According to LSM English, it was likely a drone.

Recommendations for residents
Residents of Alūksne Municipality were advised to remain indoors, close windows and doors, and follow the “two-wall” principle. If a low-flying, suspicious, or dangerous object is spotted, people were urged not to approach it and to call the single emergency number 112.
