Navrotsky's camp responded to his low approval rating in Ukraine
On August 27, a spokesperson for Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated that his standing in Ukraine is of no consequence to him. The spokesperson emphasized that Nawrocki is primarily concerned with the interests of Poland and Polish citizens.
Rafal Leskiewicz, a spokesperson for the Polish president, made these remarks on Radio Zet while commenting on the results of a Rating Group poll on attitudes toward foreign leaders, conducted in Ukraine from August 4 to 9.
“President Karol Nawrocki cares first and foremost about the interests of Poland and Poles. He is not interested in how he is perceived by some narrow group or research centers in various countries around the world, particularly in Ukraine,” Leskiewicz said.
According to this survey, 20% of Ukrainians view Navrotsky’s actions positively, while 62% view them negatively.
According to the Polish president’s spokesperson, the highly negative perception of the Polish president in Ukraine is influenced, in particular, by “anti-Polish propaganda from certain politicians.”
The spokesperson for the Polish president stated that such rhetoric intensified following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to name one of Ukraine’s military units “after the heroes of the UPA.”
According to Leskiewicz, this resulted in a “symmetrical” reaction from Navrotsky—the decision to strip Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle.
The presidential spokesperson also cast doubt on the possibility of objectively assessing the results of the Ukrainian poll.
“It’s difficult to respond meaningfully to this poll. The question is: what kind of group was it, how many people were surveyed, and how was this group selected?” he noted.
Commenting on Navrotsky’s low approval rating among Ukrainian respondents, Leskevich stated that for the Polish president, this result “really has no significance whatsoever.”
At the same time, he emphasized the need to continue supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia and to ensure the safety of Ukrainians living in Poland.
“We are helping Ukrainians—Ukrainians who are fighting against the Russian Federation. Ukrainians in Poland who are working must also feel safe, just as Poles must feel safe in Poland, as well as representatives of all other nationalities,” Leskiewicz emphasized.
