56 Ukrainians Are Missing in Nepal Following Floods and a Landslide — Foreign Ministry

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no information regarding confirmed Ukrainian fatalities resulting from the flood and landslide in Nepal. At this time, the fate of 56 Ukrainian citizens remains unknown; they are considered missing.

 

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry noted that as of September 25, the official number of missing and sought-after Ukrainian citizens stands at 56. No information regarding confirmed Ukrainian fatalities or injuries has been released.

The Ukrainian Embassy in China continues to transfer DNA data from the families of the missing citizens to the Chinese authorities.

Citing data from the relevant authorities in Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs adds that the statistics remain unchanged: 1,451 people have died, and 6,150 are considered missing. According to the Chinese side, 43 people have been confirmed dead, and 519 are considered missing (including 261 foreigners from 23 countries).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that, regarding the disappearance of Ukrainian citizens as a result of the natural disaster, preliminary investigations have been launched in the relevant criminal cases involving 49 individuals, and the necessary measures have been taken.

The situation remains difficult due to the scale of the destruction. Ukrainian diplomats are taking steps to locate and identify 56 Ukrainian citizens. The case is under special supervision, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
