University in Nigeria confirms release of two abducted female students
The Federal University of Technology Owerri in Nigeria has confirmed the safe release of two female students who were abducted on Sunday on the campus grounds. This was reported by Premium Times Nigeria, citing a university statement.
Assistance for the students
The university’s public relations officer, Orakwe Ezugwu, said the students are at the institution’s medical center. They are receiving medical and psychological assistance there. University Vice-Chancellor Ikechukwu Dozie visited the students and spoke with them.

Security measures
The university management thanked the police and other security services for their prompt intervention. The institution said it is continuing additional security measures jointly with the relevant services.
Students, staff, parents and members of the university community were urged to remain calm, stay vigilant and report suspicious activity. The publication notes that kidnapping for ransom is among the common crimes in many Nigerian cities, with students and religious figures among its targets.
