In Germany, a descendant of an anti-Nazi rebel disrupted an AfD rally

In Berlin’s Tiergarten district, near the Bender Block memorial complex, a clash broke out during a commemoration of those who took part in Operation Valkyrie. Tobias Korenke, a descendant of Dietrich Bonhoeffer—a theologian and resistance fighter executed by the Nazis—prevented representatives of the far-right party “Alternative for Germany” (AfD) from laying a wreath, damaging it in the process. 

The man stated that the party’s attempts to honor those who fought against Nazism are hypocritical, since his ancestors opposed everything that the AfD stands for today.

Security personnel attempted to detain Korenka, but he damaged the wreath anyway. The AfD press office called this act a “provocation” and a “desecration of the memory of the victims of Nazism,” noting that the party is officially invited to state commemorative events as a political force represented in the Bundestag. At the same time, the party leadership plans to file a complaint against the security guards for exceeding their authority during the detention.

Earlier, Germany announced a new package of military aid for Ukraine, which includes a three-digit number of air-to-air missiles and additional funding for air defense. Berlin will also continue to supply air defense systems, missiles, and drones as part of existing support programs.

The Danish government has decided to promptly adjust the structure of its defense aid and provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with an additional 15,000 long-range artillery rounds. This was reported by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
