Germany has raised its terrorism threat level
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt reported a deterioration in the security situation in the country. As a result, Germany has raised its terrorism threat level to “high.”
Dobrindt noted that the decision was made due to an increase in the number of reports and intelligence data regarding potential threats.
“The increase in the number of reports and intelligence data has compelled me to raise the previously described general threat level to ‘high,’” he said.
According to him, this means that in Germany, “the risk of terrorist attacks should be expected at any moment.” The minister emphasized that plans for potential attacks against the country are evident and may be directed not only against critical infrastructure but also against specific individuals or institutions.
He also underscored the need to strengthen the work of intelligence agencies. According to Dobrindt, the goal is to transform the current structures into more effective intelligence services capable of responding more quickly to threats and cooperating more closely with international partners.
Alexander Dobrindt made these remarks in an interview with *Welt am Sonntag*.
