Russian saboteurs have been detained in Germany and Spain

Law enforcement agencies in Germany and Spain have detained two individuals suspected of gathering information about a German drone manufacturer in preparation for an attack or sabotage.

According to a March 24, 2026, report by Spiegel, the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for 43-year-old Kharkiv resident Serhiy N. and 45-year-old Romanian citizen Alla S. The investigation established that the detainees were monitoring a German entrepreneur whose company supplies Ukraine with strike UAVs and components for them.

A counterintelligence investigation revealed that Sergei N. had been secretly filming the company’s facilities since December 2025, and that Alla S. joined him in March 2026, tracking down the businessman’s residential address. Investigators suspect that the purpose of their activities was to prepare a physical attack or murder. Alla S. was detained in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Sergey N. was detained near Alicante, Spain; the German side has already submitted a request for his extradition.

The detainees have been charged with espionage, and a court hearing on preventive measures is scheduled for March 25. The company owner, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, confirmed to journalists that he had taken additional security measures in advance due to the nature of his business. His company initially specialized in supplying kamikaze drones, but currently provides the Ukrainian side primarily with components for unmanned systems.

In Poland, a citizen from the border town of Hrubieszów was found guilty of collaborating with Russian intelligence and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.

Recently, the German Foreign Ministry decided to expel the deputy military attaché of the Russian Embassy in Berlin on suspicion of espionage.
