In Germany, a court convicted a Ukrainian citizen who was found guilty of espionage and planning acts of sabotage on behalf of Russia. The man was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison.

The ruling was handed down by the Higher Regional Court of Stuttgart. The court acquitted two other Ukrainians who were on trial in this case.

According to the case file, the defendant organized the shipment of two packages containing GPS trackers. The court concluded that he likely understood the possible purpose of these devices—to track locations that could become targets of future acts of sabotage.

The presiding judge also noted that the man may have been aware that he had received the assignment through an intermediary from a Russian government agency.

At the same time, the court found no evidence that specific sabotage attacks had already been planned in detail.

Three men, aged 22, 25, and 30, were arrested last May in Germany and Switzerland. They were accused of planning sabotage operations on behalf of Russian intelligence.

According to the prosecution, in March 2025, they sent two packages containing GPS trackers to Ukraine to gather information about the delivery company’s operations and routes. The next step was allegedly to send packages containing incendiary devices.

The preparations for the sabotage were uncovered before the attacks could be carried out. The court acquitted two of the defendants and convicted one. He has already served his sentence while in pretrial detention, so he will not remain behind bars.

This was reported by dpa.

As a reminder, Russian intelligence services attempted to recruit a 13-year-old resident of Rivne for sabotage activities. Through a Telegram channel, unknown individuals offered the boy money to set cars on fire, after which his mother contacted the police.

In the second quarter of 2026, Russia signed approximately 93,000 new military service contracts.

The Ukrainian government project “I Want to Live,” run by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, published a list of 1,059 students whom the Russian Ministry of Defense recruited for the war against Ukraine.
