Woman suspected in two synagogue break-ins detained in New York
In the village of Monticello in Sullivan County, New York, 33-year-old Adalis Rodriguez-Valentin was detained on suspicion of involvement in two synagogue break-ins. She was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, The Jerusalem Post reports, citing local police and court records.
Detention after nighttime call
According to Monticello police, officers arrived at approximately 2:00 a.m. last Thursday at Pine Knoll Bungalow Colony, located at 198 Forestburgh Road. Surveillance cameras captured two people entering the synagogue and moving around its premises.

Officers spotted the suspects shortly after arriving and began a foot pursuit. According to law enforcement, Rodriguez-Valentin tried to hide under a building, but was found and detained. The other suspect managed to escape despite a search involving New York State Police, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, and a K-9 unit.

Investigators said that surveillance footage from another incident that occurred last Tuesday linked Rodriguez-Valentin to a break-in at a synagogue located at 70 Wood Avenue. After being charged in Monticello court, she was released on her own recognizance. Police said the investigation is ongoing and the search for the second suspect continues.
