In Pakistan, passport collection counters will operate every Saturday from 08:00 to 16:00 over the next two months. Dawn reports, citing a statement by Pakistan’s Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP).
New collection schedule
The announcement was published on the DGIP’s official website and shared on social media. The directorate urged citizens to collect their completed passports as soon as possible.
The new schedule is intended for people who cannot visit collection counters during regular working hours.

Passport storage period
The DGIP also warned that passports remaining unclaimed for six months will be destroyed in accordance with government policy.
In July, the directorate, together with logistics and courier company TCS, launched the home passport delivery service “Passport Aapki Dehleez Par.” In June, the Pakistani government announced its decision to gradually phase out machine-readable passports and fully switch to electronic passports.
