Shahkot police station chief suspended in Pakistan over abduction case — Dawn
In Sahiwal, Pakistan, Shahkot police station chief Imtiaz Hussain Noon was suspended from duty and a case was registered against him on charges of abduction and misuse of authority. Dawn reports.
Inquiry into the police officer
According to the outlet, Noon reopened a theft case filed four years ago on the complaint of Nasir Mahmood Masood against unidentified persons. After receiving additional testimony from the complainant, he detained Mohsin Pervez, Pervez Iqbal and Qamar Zaman and named them as accused in the case.
The police officer is also accused of abducting three members of one family from Chak 92/12-L. After a petition was filed with the Lahore High Court on September 17, the court ordered the Sahiwal regional police chief to produce the detainees before the court. According to Dawn, Noon did not comply with the order, and the detainees were not brought before the court.

Regional Police Officer Rana Ayaz Saleem instructed the legal branch to conduct an internal inquiry. According to its findings of September 19, Noon was found guilty, and a representative of the legal branch recommended registering a case against him. It was opened on the complaint of Shahkot police sub-inspector Tariq Javed. At the time of publication, Noon had not been detained.
Separate case involving a child
Nur Shah police also registered a case following an attack near the village of Thattha Arayan. According to reports, the father of nine-year-old Arooj, along with 11 armed accomplices, allegedly forcibly took the girl from her mother, Reema. Reema divorced the child's father, Jabbar, three months before the incident.
According to police, when Reema's brothers Salman and Amanat resisted, the attackers opened fire on them and struck them with axes. Both were taken to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, with one of the injured in serious condition. Police reported the detention of four suspects; the others, according to police, remained at large.
