Pakistan says seven militants killed in Balochistan — Dawn

Pakistani security forces said that seven militants were killed during two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan province. As Dawn reports, state radio Radio Pakistan made the statement, citing sources.

Operations in two districts

According to Radio Pakistan, five militants were killed in the Fateh Ali area of Panjgur district. The broadcaster also reported that a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was found on them.

Another operation was carried out in the Dhadar area of Kachhi district, where, according to the state broadcaster, two militants were killed. Several other people, whom Radio Pakistan also called terrorists, were injured during the operation, it said.

Intensification of operations

According to Dawn, attacks have increased in Balochistan in recent weeks, after which security forces stepped up counterterrorism operations. According to the monthly assessment by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, 89 attacks were recorded in the province in August, compared with 83 in July, representing a 7% increase.

On Thursday, security forces also reported the deaths of seven militants during an operation in the Badrang area of Awaran district. Earlier in September, the Pakistani military reported operations in the districts of Kalat, Kharan, Washuk, Mastung, Quetta and Sibi, during which, according to its data, dozens of militants were killed.
