Two of five bodies of women found in Ekurhuleni identified in South Africa

In South Africa, families have identified two of the five bodies of women discovered in the Ekurhuleni area between July and September. Three bodies remain unidentified.

Identification of the bodies

All five bodies were taken to the forensic pathology services facility in Germiston. Its specialists are providing forensic support to the investigation.

Gauteng Department of Health spokesperson Steve Mabona said that two of the deceased women had been identified by their families. As TimesLIVE reports, forensic services are using DNA to help establish the identities of the deceased.

Appeal to families

The Gauteng Department of Health urged families of missing women to contact the police. The department also asked people who believe their relative may be among the three unidentified deceased women to contact the forensic pathology services facility in Germiston for assistance with the identification procedure.
