According to TimesLIVE, police found two Toyota minibus taxis that had collided head-on. A Suzuki station wagon collided with one of the minibuses. The crash involved three vehicles.

Death toll
Western Cape police spokesperson Christopher Spies said that 18 people sustained multiple injuries and were declared dead. Another three people suffered serious injuries and were taken to the nearest hospital. The deaths of these three victims were confirmed upon arrival, bringing the death toll to 21.
Several other people who were in the vehicles were taken to medical facilities for treatment. The cause of the crash has not yet been established; police are determining it as part of an investigation.
