BAPS apologizes over Eiffel Tower closure in Paris
Hindu religious organization Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) has apologized following the closure of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. The landmark was closed on Monday due to a workers’ strike amid allegations of discrimination during a group visit.

As Deutsche Welle English reports, BAPS said that its delegation’s visit had been coordinated in advance with the Eiffel Tower team. According to the organization, the visit was held at the beginning of regular opening hours to reduce inconvenience for other visitors.
BAPS also said that, according to its information, no one was denied access to the Eiffel Tower. The organization apologized to anyone who may have been offended or inconvenienced by the situation.

Visit conditions
About 100 men from BAPS visited the landmark. SETE, the company that manages the Eiffel Tower, said the group asked for the visit to be arranged in a way that limited interaction with women.
SETE acknowledged that agreeing to such conditions was a mistake and said they should not have been accepted. Tower employees went on strike to protest the exclusion of female workers during the group’s visit.
