On the morning of June 9, a BMW X3 exploded in Balashikha, near Moscow, killing the driver. The incident occurred in the Aviatorov neighborhood on Koldunova Street.

A powerful explosion occurred just as the man got behind the wheel and began to pull out of a parking space. After the explosion, the car was engulfed in flames.

Eyewitnesses report that the man was pulled alive from the burning car, but his injuries proved fatal.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation confirmed the car explosion and the driver’s death.

“The driver sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene,” the agency stated.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially released.

Following the incident, law enforcement authorities opened a criminal case and are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.

The Aviatorov neighborhood, where the incident occurred, is known for the fact that most of the housing there was built for military personnel and their families. The car exploded near building No. 10 on Koldunova Street.

This is not the first high-profile incident in Balashikha in recent times.

In April 2025, Yaroslav Moskalyk, deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, was killed there. At that time, a parked car exploded near his home.

According to Russian intelligence, a man whom the FSB described as an “agent of Ukrainian intelligence” was involved in organizing that explosion.

Also, in December 2024, Igor Kirillov, the head of the Russian Federation’s Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces, was killed in an explosion in Moscow along with his driver. At that time, the explosive device had been planted in a scooter near a residential building.

Currently, there is no official information regarding the cause of the BMW X3 explosion in Balashikha. Law enforcement has not reported any potential suspects or theories regarding the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and the circumstances surrounding the driver’s death are being determined.

This is reported by local Telegram channels.

In the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation, a powerful explosion occurred at an ammunition depot, after which a prolonged secondary detonation began at the facility.
