Poland is looking for replacements for Ukrainian workers

Poland is looking for replacements for Ukrainian workers

Ukrainians are gradually leaving the Polish labor market, and their places are increasingly being taken by workers from Asia and Latin America. Experts warn that even after the war ends, it may be more difficult for Ukrainians to return to work in Poland.

The Polish labor market is changing rapidly: Ukrainians, who for a long time were the largest group of foreign workers, are gradually being displaced by new migrants from Asia and South America, and this process is already affecting the country’s employment structure.

According to market data, tens of thousands of citizens from Colombia and the Philippines are currently working in Poland, and companies are actively recruiting new staff from Nepal, India, and other countries to fill labor shortages in industry, logistics, and warehousing.

Worksol Group President Michał Sołecki believes that the replacement process is already underway and that Polish employers are increasingly turning to new labor markets rather than relying solely on Ukrainian workers. “The process of replacing workers from Ukraine has already begun. The market is being rapidly filled by people from Asia and South America,” he notes.

According to him, even after the war ends, it may not be easy for Ukrainians to return to their previous positions, as companies that have already adapted to new employees will not be making mass personnel changes. “Companies that have already hired workers from Asia or Colombia will not fire them just to hire Ukrainian citizens again,” the expert notes.

Despite this, Ukrainians remain the largest group of foreign workers in Poland, though their dominance in the market is gradually diminishing amid growing labor migration from other regions of the world.

The greatest demand for foreign labor remains in the industrial sector, as well as in the fields of transportation, logistics, administration, and warehousing, where employers continue to actively seek staff. This is reported by the publication WNP.
