Shark over 3 meters long spotted in Busan — Korea Herald
A shark more than 3 meters long has been spotted in a water channel at the North Port waterfront park in Busan, South Korea. The animal's appearance drew the attention of city residents: people gathered near the water to see it, Korea Herald reports.
The shark was seen twice
The shark was first spotted on Friday at 8:57 a.m. and a second time on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. In photos and videos shared on social media, the animal is swimming near the water's surface. According to the publication, it may be a bronze shark.
Posts about the shark's alleged appearance in the channel on Sunday morning and related videos were not confirmed. The publication also noted that some clips circulated online turned out to have been created using artificial intelligence.

Authorities urged people not to approach the water
Busan Mayor Jeong Che-su said the animal's presence indicates the cleanliness of the North Port ecosystem, while urging residents to be cautious. According to Korea Herald, bronze sharks are generally not particularly aggressive toward people, though attacks have been reported when food is present.
On Friday, city authorities and the regional coast guard deployed boats and a rescue unit to safely guide the shark into the open sea. These efforts were later suspended on the recommendation of the National Institute of Fisheries Science, as forcibly driving the animal away could provoke an attack. The situation continues to be monitored, and the city has sent residents messages advising them not to approach the water when the shark is nearby.
