Production and sales of agricultural machinery have plummeted in Russia

Production and sales of agricultural machinery in Russia are declining amid falling demand and overstocked warehouses.

This was reported by Kommersant, citing data from the Rosspetsmash association.

In the first quarter of 2026, production volume amounted to 42 billion rubles, which is 36.8% less than in the same period last year.

Domestic equipment shipments fell by 16% to 32.4 billion rubles, while exports dropped by 15.5% to 4.7 billion.

A decline in shipments was recorded in nearly all segments: tractors (-16%), cultivators and harrows (about -25%), seeders (-36%), and grain cleaning machines (-31%). The only exception was combine harvesters, whose shipments increased by 3%.

Overall, the agricultural machinery market in Russia has been declining for the third consecutive year: sales fell by 18% in 2024 and by another 21% in 2025.

After three years of unexpected economic growth, Russia is facing a sudden slowdown—war costs, inflation, and falling oil prices have begun to weigh on an economy that until recently seemed resilient to sanctions.

Consumer lending in Russia has fallen to a six-year low.
