In Russia, the incidence of alcoholism and mental disorders has risen sharply
In 2025, Russia saw a sharp rise in cases of alcoholism and mental disorders.
This was reported by “Vazhnye Istorii,” citing data from the Russian Ministry of Health.
The number of new cases of alcoholism and alcohol-induced psychosis rose by 30% over the year, reaching its highest level since 2016—56.9 per 100,000 people.
At the same time, the rate of newly diagnosed mental disorders reached its highest level in 14 years—328 cases per 100,000 people.

The increase was recorded in most regions, and in some regions, the figures significantly exceed the national average.
At the same time, the number of cases of substance use disorder is generally declining, although the situation has worsened in some regions.
According to official data, over 400,000 people are registered, but the actual scale of the problem may be significantly larger.
A state campaign to combat alcohol abuse is beginning in Russia, an issue that previously did not concern the authorities.
