In Slovakia, law enforcement officials have detained two suspects in connection with an attempted arson attack on a drone manufacturing plant. The facility belongs to the Ukrainian company Skyeton, and the detainees include citizens of Ukraine and Latvia.
The prosecutor’s office reported on Thursday that the arson, planned by three suspects in eastern Slovakia, was directed against the drone manufacturer Skyeton, and a little-known group calling itself peace activists claimed responsibility for it.
Skyeton, a company founded in Ukraine, manufactures drones for civilian and military use in Ukraine and other countries.
A German prosecutor told Reuters that a 26-year-old Latvian man was detained in Hamburg and extradition proceedings are currently underway.
Slovak prosecutors said Wednesday that two other suspects—a Latvian and a Ukrainian—were detained in Slovakia.
Local media reported that on Thursday, a court ruled to keep them in custody pending the investigation.
Slovak police said the suspects were acting on someone’s orders but did not name any party suspected of ordering the attack.
A group calling itself “Global Citizens Against War 1984” claimed responsibility in a statement sent to Reuters and demanded the release of the two suspects.
Investigators have charged the suspects with a crime involving endangering human life.
