US deports far-right media provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported British far-right media provocateur and former Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos from the country. He was detained on Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Reasons for detention
As The Guardian reports, the US Department of Homeland Security said that Yiannopoulos legally entered the country through New York in May 2019 but later overstayed his authorized period of stay.
According to the department, on July 22 an immigration judge issued a final order for his removal after Yiannopoulos failed to appear at a hearing in his immigration case. On Saturday, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed that the deportation took place on Friday.

Possible return to Britain
The Department of Homeland Security did not specify the country to which 41-year-old Yiannopoulos was deported. However, The Telegraph, citing two senior US sources, reported that he was taken to the United Kingdom.
Yiannopoulos had previously publicly supported ICE and called for the immediate deportation of people who cannot prove the legality of their stay in the United States. According to the outlet, he was detained while he was reportedly heading to a concert by rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, in New Orleans.
In 2022, Yiannopoulos worked on West's short-lived 2024 presidential campaign. Laura Loomer, a far-right commentator and ally of Donald Trump's administration, also said that she had informed ICE about Yiannopoulos's immigration status.
