The Tate brothers were arrested in the U.S. at the request of the United Kingdom — The Guardian
U.S. law enforcement officials have arrested bloggers and businessmen Andrew and Tristan Tate in Miami. In the United Kingdom, they are accused of crimes related to human trafficking and other offenses.
“Internet influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami by federal authorities at the request of the United Kingdom,” the U.S. Marshals Service reported.
The Tate brothers are awaiting extradition proceedings in the U.S. The day before, British prosecutors announced 38 additional charges in the case, involving four more alleged victims.
Specifically, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) of the United Kingdom has charged 39-year-old Andrew Tate with seven counts of rape, three counts of organizing or facilitating human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, three counts of causing bodily harm, and 19 additional counts of crimes related to pornography.
His 38-year-old brother, Tristan, faces one charge of sexual assault, two charges of rape, and three charges of organizing or facilitating human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
The charges relate to events that, according to the investigation, took place between July 2010 and August 2017.
According to Malcolm McHuffie, head of the Special Crimes Division at the Crown Prosecution Service, the total number of alleged victims in this case has reached seven.
Bedfordshire Police reported that the total number of charges against the brothers now stands at 59: 42 against Andrew Tate and 17 against Tristan Tate.
Previously, the Crown Prosecution Service had brought 21 criminal charges against the Tates in a separate case, including rape, causing bodily harm, and human trafficking.
The Tate brothers, who promote hypermasculinity and have millions of followers on social media, deny the charges.
Both are also facing charges in Romania of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized criminal group.
