In the city of El Obeid in Sudan, at least five civilians were killed and another 47 were injured in a drone strike on a dormitory at the University of Kordofan. This was reported by the independent Sudan Doctors Network, cited by Anadolu Agency.
Preliminary casualty figures
According to the doctors' network, the strike was carried out by drones of Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The organization noted that the figures of five killed and 47 injured are preliminary.
Sudan Doctors Network described the attack as part of ongoing RSF attacks on civilians and civilian facilities across the country. The network stated that strikes on student housing and educational institutions are a serious violation of international humanitarian law and pose a threat to civilians.

Previous strikes on El Obeid
El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, has repeatedly come under drone attacks in recent months. On September 20, Sudan Doctors Network reported that two people were killed and another 20 were injured in drone strikes on several residential areas of the city.
The RSF did not immediately comment on the new report. Fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF has continued since April 2023; according to Anadolu Agency, it has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people and the displacement of millions.
