Air quality worsened in three Singapore regions due to haze — Channel NewsAsia
In Singapore on September 20, 2026, air quality in three of the five regions deteriorated to unhealthy levels due to haze. At 6:00 a.m., the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) was 123 in the central region, 105 in the western region, and 102 in the eastern region, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Fluctuations in indicators
Over the past few weeks, PSI readings have alternated between reaching the unhealthy range and falling. On Tuesday, unhealthy air quality levels were recorded in all five regions of the country for the first time since September 2019.

Agency forecast
In its daily haze bulletin released on Saturday, Singapore's National Environment Agency forecast that the 24-hour PSI would range from the upper end of the moderate range to the middle of the unhealthy range. The agency also said there was a risk of haze affecting Singapore due to prevailing east-southeasterly or southeasterly winds.
According to the agency's assessment, dry weather was expected to persist over Kalimantan and southern Sumatra. Smoke plumes from fires were observed there moving toward Singapore.
