Ukrainian Vulcan assault rifles were spotted in service with the Indonesian military
Soldiers from the Indonesian Rapid Response Force (Kopasgat) were spotted carrying Ukrainian “Vulcan” assault rifles in a bullpup configuration. The photos were published by the Indonesian defense website KERIS Reborn.
According to “Military,” the photos likely show an assault rifle chambered in 7.62×39 mm. However, it is currently unknown how many of these rifles Indonesia has received or whether they are being used as standard-issue weapons or merely being tested.
There is also no publicly available information regarding Indonesia signing a production contract to purchase “Volcano” rifles.
The “Vulcan” is a Ukrainian bullpup-style assault rifle in which the magazine and part of the mechanisms are located behind the pistol grip. The weapon’s overall length is approximately 712 mm, and the barrel length is 415 mm.
The assault rifle is based on the AK family’s operating mechanism but features a redesigned structure, a new receiver, and modified controls. Depending on the variant, the “Vulcan” uses 5.45×39 or 7.62 ammunition.
Recently, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine three fiber-optic FPV systems manufactured by enterprises of JSC “Ukrainian Defense Industry.”
Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense had standardized and authorized the domestic “Volynyaka” unmanned aerial vehicle system for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine approved the Shablya MK19(M) remotely controlled combat module for use by the troops. It is equipped with an MK19 40-mm automatic grenade launcher.
