A Ukrainian carrier blocked highways in Poland twice in one day

A Ukrainian company transporting oversized wind turbine components was involved in two incidents on the Polish A4 and A2 highways within a single day.

The first incident occurred near Rzeszów, where a section of a wind turbine tower fell from a semi-trailer during transport, blocking the roadway and damaging the guardrails.

The second incident occurred near Poznań. A convoy carrying oversized cargo was traveling on the A2 highway during the morning rush hour, even though its transport permit allowed travel only at night—from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Due to difficulties passing under a viaduct, the convoy practically blocked one of the traffic lanes.

During the inspection, officials also determined that one of the escort vehicles was improperly marked, and one of the escorts did not have the necessary authorization.

The Polish Road Transport Inspectorate has initiated administrative proceedings. The carrier faces a fine of up to 12,000 zlotys for each of the two detained convoys.
