A "Shahed" drone entered Moldovan airspace overnight
On the night of March 31, a Shahed-type combat drone was spotted in the skies over Moldova.
Newsmaker.md reported this, citing the Moldovan government’s official Telegram channel.
According to authorities, at 9:29 p.m., the Air Operations Service of the Moldovan National Army detected an unauthorized violation of the country’s airspace by a “Shahed.”
According to air surveillance systems, the drone crossed the state border from the direction of the village of Komarivka in Ukraine’s Odesa region, heading toward the village of Shipka in Moldova. The civil aviation authority temporarily restricted airspace in the north of the country for 15 minutes.
The drone subsequently disappeared from radar near the village of Klishova in the Orhei District.
Moldova will demand compensation from Russia for damages caused by the attacks.
The Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers approved the introduction of a state of emergency in the energy sector for 60 days. The final decision will be made by parliament at an extraordinary session today at 5:00 p.m.
Earlier reports indicated that Moldova could declare a state of emergency in the energy sector for 60 days on March 24 amid massive Russian strikes on Ukraine’s power grid.
As a reminder, Moldova is implementing a state of heightened readiness in the energy sector due to the situation in the Middle East.
Also, following the Russian attack, technical oil in the Dniester River has reached Moldova.
