Around 50 counter-protest participants detained in Amsterdam — Jerusalem Post
In Amsterdam, Netherlands, police detained around 50 participants in a pro-Palestinian counter-protest during a pro-Israel rally on Dam Square. According to the Jerusalem Post, some counter-protesters reached the square despite restrictions imposed by a court.
About 2,000 people, mostly evangelical Christians, attended the “Into the breach for Israel” rally. They gathered despite heavy rain to express support for Israel and solidarity with the Jewish community. According to the outlet, 36 buses arrived in the Dutch capital from towns and villages in the country’s so-called Bible Belt.
Court designated a location for the counter-protest
The organizers of the pro-Palestinian rally demanded permission to protest on Dam Square, but the court did not grant their request. The counter-protest was permitted to take place at Oudekerksplein, about 500 meters from the main gathering.

According to the Jerusalem Post, around 100 people attended the counter-protest. Some participants wore keffiyehs and held Palestinian flags. The outlet also reported that one of them had a flag of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which the European Union officially considers a terrorist organization.
Incidents on Dam Square
During the event, a large Palestinian flag was unfurled from the balcony of a nearby H&M store. According to the outlet, several participants in the pro-Israel rally tore it down. A minor scuffle also occurred, which police quickly stopped.
Later, law enforcement officers surrounded a group of counter-protesters near the National War Memorial on Dam Square and detained around 50 people. After the event ended, rally organizer Jacques Brunt called on participants not to react to provocations, to hide Israeli flags while leaving, and to board the buses immediately.
