There is a shortage of dermatitis cream in Russian pharmacies
"Elidel"—a cream used to treat atopic dermatitis—has begun to disappear from Russian pharmacies. According to sources in the pharmaceutical market, current supplies of the medication may last only 3–4 weeks.
The drug is also nearly sold out on pharmacy marketplaces. Specifically, according to Zdravsiti, only three packages remained in Moscow and the Moscow region.
“Elidel” is manufactured by the German company Meda Pharma, which is part of the global pharmaceutical company Viatris. The company’s Russian division confirmed that shipments of the drug to Russia have been temporarily suspended. They did not specify the reason but assured that it is not related to the drug’s quality, safety, or efficacy.
Analysts at RNC Pharma have been tracking problems with the drug’s sales in pharmacies since August 20. While approximately 1,600 packages of “Elidel” were previously sold daily in Russia, by the end of the summer, that figure had dropped to 40–50 packages per day.
At the same time, demand for the drug has been growing in recent years. From January through July 2026, Russian pharmacies sold about 545,000 packages of “Elidel” for 655.1 million rubles. On an annual basis, sales increased by approximately 31%.
Roszdravnadzor stated that approximately 80% of the annual supply volume went on sale between January and August. Currently, according to the agency, more than 42,000 packages remain in civilian circulation. At the same time, the Federal Customs Service reported that there are currently no import declarations for new batches of the drug in Russia.
