In Israel, former Shin Bet chief Yoram Cohen ranks second on Yashar list
In Israel, the Yashar party led by Gadi Eisenkot submitted a list of candidates for the Knesset to the Central Election Commission ahead of the elections scheduled for October 2026. Former head of Israel’s Shin Bet security service Yoram Cohen took second place on the list, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Number two on the list
Yoram Cohen headed Shin Bet from 2011 to 2016. Before being appointed head of the service, he was its deputy and took part in numerous counterterrorism operations and measures.
Third place on the list went to former minister and Knesset member from the Kahol Lavan party Orit Farkash-Hacohen. Fourth was Israel Prize laureate and social entrepreneur Adi Altschuler. According to the publication, women make up approximately half of the candidates on the list.

The first 40 candidates
Fifth place was taken by former minister and Kahol Lavan lawmaker Matan Kahana, while sixth went to Jewish Home leader Chili Tropper. Economist Shaul Meridor is listed seventh, and former director general of the Ministry of Labor Tair Ifergan is eighth.
The top 10 also includes Osherat Ganei Gonen and Shira Shapira, the mother of Aner Shapira, who was killed on October 7. Yashar published the first 40 positions and submitted the list by the Tuesday deadline.
According to The Jerusalem Post, recent polls project the party to win about 23 seats in the Knesset. Yashar is part of an opposition bloc seeking to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming elections.
